News Item: Website News
Unfortunately, we have had some people who have seen fit to post un-desireable material on our website, through the forums. There have also been around 150 spam members join the website. Because of this problem, I have chosen to do two things.
Firstly NEW members to the website will no longer be automatically admitted. New members will need to be manually admitted to the website, unfortunately this will mean that if you register to become a member of the website, you will have to wait up to 24 hours for your membership to be validated. This does not however restrict you from viewing the content of the website, this only puts a restriction on posting material to the forums.
Secondly I am in the process of deleting and removing those memberships which I believe are spam members. If you find your membership has been deleted and you are a genuine RC racer, I apologise and you can re-register.
It is unfortunate that I have had to bring in these measures, but I have spent literally hours removing rubbish from the site.
Kathy

News Item: Power Box Donation
On Sunday we received a donation of two Power Boxes, each featuring 12 switched power points, complete with protection of 3 safey switches (one for each bank of 4 power points), 3 phase circuit breaker in a package switch board, all enclosed in a powder coated heavy duty steel lockable box.
Matti managed to source the materials that were all donated by Hagermeyer Australia http://www.hagemeyerau.com/HagemeyerFord.htm
It is interesting to note that Hagermeyer via its chain of electrical outlet stores "Lawrence and Hanson" is sponsoring a V8 Supercar drven by Michael Caruso and Grent Denyer in this year's Rising Stars championship. Their latest catalogue is giving prizes of RC cars similar to the lower spec 540 ones we are using for the "Special Needs" Program.
A huge thankyou goes out to Hagermeyer Australia for the parts and to Matti for the time and effort put in to building the power boxes for our club.

News Item: Special Needs Training Program
Hello all,
Just a short note firstly to thank all our helpers who turned up today to help with this project, we had a great afternoon with all the children appearing to thoroughly enjoy themselves (including our own club members). We split the kids into 3 groups and made three circles of rope on the track. We trained the children to control the cars with most of them doing very well. They were also shown how to turn the car and controller on and off and how to change a battery.
After an hour of practicing it was time to finish up, we gave the brothers and sisters that were also there a go with the cars and then our own three club kids gave a short demonstration of how to drive on a full track.
Once again thank you to all who have made this course possible.
Kathy

News Item: Racing Classes
We currently run the following typie of classes: 1/10th Scale - onroad Non-Conformant 540 Electric Stock Electric Touring Cars Modified Electric Touring Cars Stock Gas - Side exhaust Pro Gas - rear exhaust Weight requirements:Electric Cars Minimum 1500grams without transponder. Stock Gas Cars Minimum 1800 without fuel and including transponder. Pro Gas Cars Minimum 1725 without fuel and including transponder. 1/10th Scale onroad - Non-Conformant Electric The Non-Conformant class is a special class, used mostly for Beginners or those who rock up to the club for the first time and want to "have a go". The aim for most of these drivers would be to get into the 540 Electric Class. There are no specifications for this class, although drivers are encouraged to use a 540 motor. This is a good class for "Out of the box" or "Kit" cars. This is the Class you start in if you have never raced before.
1/10th Scale onroad - 540 Electric The 540 Electric is our most affordable class on the track. The motor must be a Johnson 540 grey endbell (grey motor with grey endbell). This class in our club has many under 15 year olds and is the training ground for the skills needed in the higher lasses. Driving skill will decide the winner in this class!
1/10th Scale onroad - Stock Electric Touring Cars The Stock Electric Touring Car class is the mid-level performance in the electric onroad category. The motors used are rebuildable 27 turn, 24 degree fixed endbell electric motors. There are a wide variety of stock motors available on the market which racers can choose from. This is a faster class than 540 and better driving skills are necessary to be competitive. This class ususally requires more knowlege to keep the car running efficiently. As it says "rebuildable" motors means that after a few races you need to "rebuild" your motor, which usually means cutting the 'com' and replacing brushes....Not hard once you know how.
1/10th Scale onroad - Modified Electric Touring Cars The Modified Electric Touring Car is the highest performance electric class. Cars are allowed to accept aftermarket high performance parts. There are no limits on the electric motors specifications. These cars are almost as fast as the high end nitro onroad cars.
1/10th Scale onroad - Stock Gas - Side Exhaust This field of car is what is generally called RTR (ready to run) and are usually purchased as a fully assembled kit with the radio included. You can also buy chassie kits which you need to assemble. This class can use 4WD, 200mm wide chassis and run 4 ports (including the exhaust) .12 (2.1cc) or .15 (2.50cc) with maximum 1 horsepower rating side exhaust engines.
1/10th Scale onroad - Pro Gas - Rear exhaust The Nitro touring car is similar to the Modified Electric Touring class but is powered by methanol fuel. We only allow the Touring Car Body Style. The chassis on this field of cars are of a higher quality and finish than the RTR cars and do not come pre assembled. Requiring the owner to hand build each part of the car and make sure that all the fittings and tolerances are correct.
